A Layman's Ten Commandments and Peace of Mind

Hummingbird at our fountain

1] Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout.

2] Why is a car's WINDSHIELD so large & the Rear view Mirror so small? Because, our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, Look Ahead and Move on.

3] Friendship is like a Book. It takes only a few seconds to burn it, but it takes years to write it.

4] All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy them, they will not last forever. If things are going wrong, don't worry, they can't last long either.

5] Old Friends are Gold! New Friends are Diamond! If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because to hold a Diamond, you always need a Base of Gold!

6] Often when we lose Hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax, Sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end!

7] When GOD solves your problems, you have Faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has Faith in your abilities.

8] A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing ones eyesight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your Vision!"

9] When you Pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them. When you are safe and happy, remember that someone has Prayed for you.

10] WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, it takes away today's PEACE.

Bill Bartholomae riding on the original Diamond Bar Ranch

This morning I woke up for find the article, working title "The Littlest Cowboy"  published. Picked some flowers and got the lawn ready for the gardeners. I came inside to find Patty Gee forwarded the above "Commandments".

I haven't been able to trace the author, but the words are undeniably true, so up they go. Thank you, Patty!

A thought on #10 on the list.

I have a new folder to sort e-mail into.  This is not for messages of people who disagree. Respectful disagreement is the stone upon which thoughts are honed and greater understanding wrought .

Without the interchange of ideas we are kept from rising from simple knowledge to worthwhile wisdom.

This folder is just for repeat offenders forwarding rude, crude and downright arrogant.  The folder is labeled "Idiots."

Now to thank God that such a small percentage of what comes in here deserves to be there.

  1. L,
Since we have had some lively discussions, I hope I'm not in that "Idiots" file! lol

I love the commandments, especially the ones about friends. So true! I cherish my friends from long ago and the new ones too. We have many acquaintances but few very close ones.

Hugs and hope to see you today!

    XO Trisha

  4. Oh, I like these, Lydia. Number 6 reminds me of a saying I saw on a pin: A bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you fail to make the turn.
