This site is dedicated to all who believe that a Very Good Life depends upon our capacity to open our hearts and minds to the goodness which surrounds us- and sharing it.
The viewpoint expressed here is that of a traditional woman who believes our most important legacy is what we leave behind in the hearts of others is our most important legacy.
Godspeed and Good Fortune to all who enter here.
Our little Eden, complete with the occasional snake, is USDA Zone 9B. Nested high in a chaparral filled valley, ground level is 957’ above sea level. The view is incredible. The specific climate is mostly Sunset Zone 20. I don’t want stalkers, so we’ll skip the GPS info. It is pretty glorious to live here in the land of 2 seasons: Fire and mudslide.
This journal is filled with enthusiastic strivings to fulfill the suburbanite fantasy of keeping a country home.
As context is important, on occasion a bit of history or commentary on current events is dropped in.

Watching Like A Hawk
Dateline: Diamond Bar
It is 97 outside . The hills beyond the reach of aquamarine are dry as old parchment. The sky is bright as an aquamarine. A couple young hawks have been raising quite a ruckus in my backyard.
There is something magical about living with wildlife. The piercing call of the young hawks heightens my awareness. Nature is not just beautiful. It can be dangerous. But, within reason, the beauty is worth the danger.
Hi, Lydia. Thanks for stopping by. The group singing the first son, Shimmy Low, is called The Clarks. They are a group from Pittsburg. Check out some of their videos on YouTube. I really like them.
I so agree....Last year when I was able to warch and document the three Hawk Babies...It was asbsolutely thrilling...! I watched them every day and took thousands of pictures of them....There were no babies this year and I miss them so very much! Enjoy, Emjoy, my dear Lydia.
Miss Jean- Thank you for the info on musicians. Naomi- Your following the hawks in your hills inspired me. Someday maybe I will rate a lens to capture better what I see. Today I counted the hawks- there seems to be a gang of 3 young ones who live across our valley- and make flights over here.
